CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

Course Information

This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.

Duration and Delivery Mode

This course is delivered over 8 hours (1 day) in a face-to-face learning environment. Due to the intensive nature of this training attendance for the full workshop time is required.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible to enrol into this course students must be 14 years or older. Written parental consent is required for all students under the age of 18 years.

 

Students must have the right to study in Australia, and evidence of citizenship, residency status, or visa entitlements will be asked for at the time of enrolment. Global Skills Development is not a CRICOS registered RTO, so we are unfortunately unable to accept enrolments from people who are on a Student Visa (subclass 500).

 

To study any accredited course with Global Skills Development you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

 

At the time of enrolment students will be asked to complete a short online Language, Literacy, and Numeracy assessment to ensure they have the required skills to successfully participate in training and assessment and identify the need for additional support.

Assessment

This course is assessed using a combination of practical skills demonstrations, verbal questioning, and written assessment tasks.

Certificate Renewal and Licensing

New South Wales:

Global Skills Development will submit application forms directly to SafeWork NSW for all students who successfully complete the White Card training course (CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry). Students will also receive a Statement of Attainment on successful completion of training which they can use to prove that they have completed training until their White Card arrives (valid for 60 days).

 

ACT:

Global Skills Development will provide a Statement of Attainment on successful completion of training which they can use to apply for a White Card in the ACT through Access Canberra.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Due to licensing requirements Global Skills Development does not offer recognition of prior learning for White Card training.
